Black skin is more susceptible to acne cream - rashes that are caused by hair ointments - and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or darkening of the skin as a result of inflammation.

The fact is that any type of skin condition may occur independently of the pigmentation of skin you have. When it comes to African American skin care and others with darker spots, however, there are some problems of skin care that are much more common.

Changes in skin color

African American skin has larger melanosomes (cells that determine skin color) and the melanosomes contain more melanin than those found in white leather. Since the protective effect of melanin, African-Americans are better protected against skin cancer and premature wrinkling from sun exposure.
