At some stage in all our lives we want clearer, fresher, younger looking skin. Well it can be achieved without spending a lot of money and it can happen naturally! What you must do is persevere and over the course of three weeks your skin will begin to look fresher and clearer. Here's how;
1. Keeping your skin clean is your first priority! You must cleanse your face morning and night with a gentle, natural cleanser that not only rids the skin of dirt and grime but then treats it with an antibacterial ingredient like tea tree oil.
2. After cleansing the skin pat dry and then spray a fine toning mist over the face to cool and help close the pores while they are clean.
3. Look for a moisturizer that is made for problem skin types and contains antibacterial ingredients like tea tree oil and lavender essential oil. These ingredients are gentle but very effective at clearing the skin from blemishes and pimples.
4. Getting the right amount of restful sleep your body needs nightly will reflect in the state of your skin. Not enough sleep over a period of time will result in problems that are hard to cure such as loose skin under the eyes and dark circles.
5. The food you eat is of the utmost importance for healthy, clear skin! Make sure you are getting a good amount of fresh fruits and vegetables and limit your red meat intake to three or four times a week. Drink lots and lots of water too!
6. Cleanse the skin on your body and face with a weekly scrub. When using a body scrub start at your feet and work towards the heart, this helps eliminate toxins. Doing it the opposite direction will push the toxins back into your system. Use a very gentle facial scrub on your face and neck as these areas can be easily damaged.
7. Try an Aspirin face mask! This mask is having fantastic results on those people with open pores, pimples and acne. Crush about 15 aspirin tablets to a powder mix to a paste with a little water, less than 1 teaspoon and then apply to a cleansed face. Leave for twenty minutes to work its way into the skin and then rinse off and apply a light moisturizer. Try this weekly, after a face scrub.
8. Once a month use a home steam treatment to thoroughly draw out impurities from the face. Add boiling water to a basin or bowl and add two drops of tea tree oil. Place your face over this with a towel covering and gently let the steam open and cleanse the pores.
9. Get out into the fresh air and take a walk, swim in the sea, ride a bike and have fun! The exercise will boost your system and your skin will love it.
10. Take a fish oil supplement daily. Fish oil helps eliminate toxins from the body and by now you know that is fantastic for your skin!

Don’ts Of Great Hair Care
In fact, most will go to any lengths to achieve their desired look. From professional salon treatments to over-the-counter serums, hair care is a big business. Many people are buying the right hair care products, they forget to follow basic hair care regimens that will guarantee the health and beauty of their tresses. Additionally, many are also causing needless damage to their hair by participating in unhealthy hair care behavior.
Ten tips Hair care don't
1. Avoid unprofessional and over-the-counter hair care products whenever you can. Many of these only offer false hopes and promises.
2. Do not cut your own bangs. Leave all of your cutting needs, even bangs, to your hair care professional.
3. Avoid excessive sun, chlorine and salt water during the summer months. Excessive exposure can cause severe damage that is irreversible even if you use the best hair care products.
4. Do not use clarifying hair care products on your tresses more than one time per week. They can strip hair of moisture and essential oils.
5. Do not visit a hair care salon without first getting a referral from someone you can trust. Choosing a salon based on an advertisement or sale alone is very risky.
6. Do not purchase hair color that comes in a box.
7. Never stick with an outdated look because you are afraid of looking different. Styles change for a reason. Ask your hair care professional to bring you into this decade with a new style.
8. Do not straighten your hair with a clothes iron. C'mon, this was so over in the 70s. We have straightening irons that won't damage your hair for this now. Look in the hair care isle.
9. Don't brush your hair or put too much tension on it while it is still wet. This will cause breakage. Also, do not wear tight styles such as corn rows for extended periods of time unless you have ethnic hair.
10. Never use sun-lightening products such as lemon juice or over-the-counter hair care products designed to lighten hair with the sun unless you want a very short hair cut in the future.

Right Cosmetics For Your Skin
Dry Skin
If you are the victim of skin that is dry, don't despair. You should find a mousse or crème type foundation. Moisture is the key word with lipsticks and lip glosses. If you use a concealer, make sure it is cream based. You should avoid loose power or oil free formulas as they will tend to settle in the fine lines on your face. Eye makeup is best done with silk-textured powder or crème eye shadows and eyeliner should be either a shimmer pencil or a matte type.
Oily Skin
Try using an oil free primer before applying a matte type foundation that won't clog your pores.Loose powder has fewer oils than pressed powder. Blot the skin periodically throughout the days to remove any shine. Avoid cremes for eye shadow or mascara and creamy style lip pencils.
Sensitive Skin
Look for products that are labeled specifically for use with sensitive skin and avoid fragrances in your cosmetic products. Non-allergenic is another phrase to look for on the labels. The key is to avoid anything with high dye levels or preservatives.
Combination Skin
You can either choose different products for different skin conditions on your face or you can select products which are specifically created for combination skin. Even so-called normal skin often has areas which are more or less oily than other areas. Normal skin may have times during the monthly cycle when it is oilier than usual.

African-American skin treatment
African Americans tend to have sensitive skin, said Angela Palmer said. This makes it difficult to treat acne and acne ingredients that can irritate the skin. Black skin is more susceptible to acne cream - rashes that are caused by hair ointments - and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or darkening of the skin as a result of inflammation.
The fact is that any type of skin condition may occur independently of the pigmentation of skin you have. When it comes to African American skin care and others with darker spots, however, there are some problems of skin care that are much more common.
Changes in skin color
African American skin has larger melanosomes (cells that determine skin color) and the melanosomes contain more melanin than those found in white leather. Since the protective effect of melanin, African-Americans are better protected against skin cancer and premature wrinkling from sun exposure.
Avoid:
Severe procedures such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels can exacerbate the pigmentation problems. To protect sensitive skin from irritation, the use of dry ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide with caution.
Embrace:

Type of acne vulgaris
Acne vulgaris is the most common form of acne, and can range from mild to severe. Mild or moderate cases of acne vulgaris include the following types of injuries:
Pustule.
These lesions are often grown reddish and contain a white or yellowish fluid, consisting of pus, oil, dead skin and white blood cells. How inflamed papule, these pimples are the result of breaking the wall inside the follicle.
Blackhead.
This type of defect known as "open comedo" and occurs in over-sized follicles in which air can penetrate and oxidize the plug on the skin's natural pigment, melanin, to create a black appearance.
Papule.
A small red dot that does not contain pus is called a papule. Also known as "grain", a form when a blister is broken near the surface of the hair follicle.
Whitehead.
This type of defect is also called "closed comedo" and occurs when the plug causes the wall of the hair follicle to swell. Because the air is not trapped inside the material, does not oxidize and remains white.
Type of acne vulgaris that range from moderate to severe often occur when oil, bacteria and other debris spill out from the follicle to affect other areas of the skin. These lesions can be tougher to treat and include:
Nodules.
These large, painful lesions penetrate deep within the skin on the face and body and may be the result of multiple infected follicles that are adjacent to one another. Nodules are more likely to form scars and can last for a longer period of time – especially if squeezed. An acne condition that’s characterized by nodules is called “nodular acne.”
Cysts.
Similar to nodules, cysts are large lesions, but these contain pus. An acne condition with cysts is often referred to as “cystic acne.” If acne contains both cysts and nodules, it’s referred to as “nodulocystic acne.”
The most severe type of acne vulgaris are rare and difficult to treat. These conditions include:
Acne conglobata.
This extreme form of acne vulgaris is rare and more common in men aged 18 to 30 years. It occurs when nodules and cysts scattered beneath the surface of the skin to create large lesions often painful and may be accompanied by black spots and an unpleasant odor. This chronic disease is difficult to treat and can cause scarring.
Acne fulminans.
If chronic acne conglobata is nothing left untreated, can develop acne fulminans. This condition is characterized by sudden, swelling, fever, acute pain in the joints of the hips and knees and severe acne to ulcers.
Gram-negative folliculitis.
This type of acne is caused by a bacterial infection, and includes pustules and cysts. Gram-negative folliculitis associated with long-term treatment of acne with antibiotics. The bacteria that cause this type of acne is resistant to most drugs, making it difficult to treat.
Pyoderma Faciale.
Also known as "rosacea fulminans," this is a rare form of acne is characterized by sudden onset of a red, painful pustules and nodules on the face. This condition usually affects females, aged between 20 and 40 lasts a little over a year, and can cause scarring.

Right Cosmetics For Beautiful Face
Right cosmetics for any skin type is important to create a fresh natural appearance as well as to prevent reactions to the cosmetics such as allergies with resulting rashes, itching and weeping or breakouts with whiteheads or blackheads and painful skin eruptions. Every person's skin is unique and different areas on a person's face may have different characteristics which must be taken into consideration when choosing appropriate cosmetics.
Avoid cosmetics that dry or irritate your skin
Each different skin type will react differently to the various types of cosmetics. Even if a particular brand works for your eye shadow, the same brand may not work for lipstick. This is because the skin type on your eyelids may be very different from the skin type on your lips.
Consider your skin tone when selecting cosmetics
Select cosmetics that complement and match your skin tone and minor imperfections in skin tone and texture will disappear. Darker foundations, deeper colors for eye shadow and eyeliner will be best suited for those with chocolate or olive skin tones. Cosmetics should enhance, never overpower the skin tones.
Invest in quality makeup
Quality makeup often tends to get painful to the pocketbook, but it shows on your skin. Look for good quality cosmetics that aren't necessarily expensive. It's better to invest in yourself by purchasing quality makeup that you know looks great with your skin type.

Secret to long strong and thick hair
If you have tried every other hair product to get the perfect hair texture ...you have come to the right place. I will give you a very simple routine to keep your hair beautiful. So lets get started !
1. Wash your hair twice a week.Do not use too much shampoo (just enough to clean your hair). Unlike what most shampoos claim, they are essentially detergents to clean the dirt off your hair. If you don't believe check out the label on your shampoo "detergent base".
2. Dry your hair naturally. Using artificial means for drying your hair leads to split ends. You can use a shampoo comb to untangle your hair but remember to be gentle.
3. Once your hair are dry you can use your regular comb.
4. If its a weekend and you can manage to stay indoor, its time to oil your hair after a hair wash. After washing and drying your hair use hair oil (almond or coconut). Do not use any synthetic hair oil. Partition your hair in between and pour about three spoons of oil directly on your scalp. Now work it into your hair roots by gently massaging. Use the pulp of your fingers to massage each and every part of your scalp. Now leave this oil overnight in your hair. This maintains the hydration and prevents your hair from drying, splitting and falling.
5. Wash your hair the next day.
Remember the trick is to apply oil to your hair after washing not before. applying oil before washing just makes them more greasy when your hair are already dirty.
Follow the steps mentioned above and you will definitely see a remarkable difference in your hair. Your hair will become smooth, shiny, thick and no split ends. Write to me about your experience with this magical method in the comments section.

From the neck down, a great wardrobe is essential. Some guys just have a natural eye for putting things together. For the rest of us there are some wardrobe basics that we must learn and incorporate into our daily lives. Taking a little extra time to pay attention to detail is important in maintaining a consistently great look -- even when dressing down.
From the neck up, there are ten basic rules every man should follow to stay looking great.
- Find a good barber or stylist. It's important to establish a relationship with the person who cuts your hair. A good barber or stylist will get to know you better and will help you choose a style that works for both your lifestyle and career.
- Knowing how to make the most of your salon visit is also crucial. Familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of the salon and learn to communicate with the person cutting your hair.
- Visit your barber or stylist regularly. For shorter styles, never go more than three weeks between trims. If your hair is longer, you can wait a bit longer between visits. A good rule of thumb is this: You should never look like you've just had a haircut. When you leave the barber's chair, if there is a white line on the back of your neck, you've waited too long. You may also want to check with your haircutter and see if they offer "maintenance trims." In my shop, we do a quick cleanup around the ears and a neck shave free of charge for regular clients. This is a fairly common practice.
- Have a solid understanding of different styling products is also important. A good barber or stylist will take the time to educate you on the usage of product to enhance your look. Men will spend hours every week waxing the car, but few want to spend a few seconds putting a bit of product in their hair. I just don't understand that. Remember guys... if you think someone finds you attractive because your car looks great, you're sadly mistaken.
- Use product ever day, no matter what style you wear. In the summer, I normally wear a crewcut or similar short haircut. Did you know that just a small dab of pomade can add shine and give even a buzzcut a more polished look?
- Change your style from time to time. Keep just one step ahead of the trends. It's amazing how much more people notice you when you change your style a bit. One word of caution: Don't let a trendy style linger too long. The faux hawk was white hot in 2006, but if you're still wearing one today, you've become passe. The rhyme was not intentional.
- While your stylist should help create a style that balances your facial features correctly, it is important to know how to choose the right style for your face shape and how the right haircut can balance facial features. Having this knowledge will help you make more informed choices when it comes to selecting a style and communicating with your stylist.
- Learn the right way to shave. A red, razor burned face isn't doing your looks any favors. Most irritation can be prevented by using proper shaving technique. Invest in a quality shave cream and razor and take a few extra moments in the morning to pay attention to this critical step.
- Pay attention to the scalp. A healthy scalp is key to great looking hair so take the time to learn how to care for your scalp so you get the best head of hair possible.
- Keep everything below the neck well groomed, too. Not only should you keep your clothes neat and stylish, remember to groom the hair that grows below your neck, too. Of course, you're wearing clothes most of the time, but don't you want to look good for the times when you have to take 'em off?

How to Play Up Brown Eyes With Pale Skin
I recently got a question from a high school student in England who wanted advice on how to do her makeup for prom. Amii has pale skin and big brown eyes, she said, and wanted to know how to do her own makeup for prom. This was the advice I gave her. I suggest playing up your eyes since they seem to be your best feature. Apply a deep brown liquid eyeliner along your upper lashes. Pick out an eyeshadow palette that you like for your lids and apply the lightest shade on the entire lid up to your browbone, then take the darker shade and shade it into the crease. Be sure to blend, blend, blend. If you want a stronger look, apply a pencil liner to the bottom lids and smudge the line with your finger so it looks most natural.
I like the way a white eyeliner applied at the inside corner of the eye makes eyes pop. That's a trick all the makeup artists use.
Apply a couple coats of dark brown or black mascara.
Make sure your brows are cleaned up, either with a professional wax or a tweeze. This will do wonders for your look. Too many girls make the mistake of not cleaning up their brow line.
I also strongly suggest playing up your pale skin with a pink blush. If you want to look "tan," apply bronzer on your forehead, cheeks and nose, all the places where the sun hits.
If you have oily skin, apply powder and keep blotting papers in your purse. These papers soak up oils without ruining your makeup. If you have dry skin (few teens do), sweep a moisturizer over your face before you apply the bronzer and blush. The dewy look is youthful.
Keep lips light so they don't overpower your eyes. If you want color, try a pink lip liner and shade lips in. The color lasts longer than lipstick. Sweep a gloss over lips and you're good to go.

Skin Whitening: Your Kitchen Holds The Ingredients
Anyone suffering from unwanted skin pigmentation or in need of skin whitening, is a prime target for the bloated cosmetic industry. Billions of dollars are spent annually on products that promise to remove acne scars, melasma, freckles, hyperpigmentation, skin discoloration, and other skin pigment problems. Some of these skin products produce promised results, some work just marginally, most don't work at all. But a hungry public, eager for a clean and radiant skin, almost obsessively continue to press their hard earned dollars into the hands of anyone posing a credible promise of solving their skin pigmentation and skin whitening issues.
Those who can afford it turn to Cosmetic Laser Therapy as an answer to their need for skin whitening treatment. Cosmetic Laser Therapy is rapidly coming into its own as a profoundly effective treatment for a wide variety of irksome skin pigmentation and skin whitening problems. But what about the rest of us? Cosmetic Laser Therapy is costly. So we're left with the beauty industry's overpriced and underperforming products. Interesting too, in this light is that like any good politician, the beauty business can always come up with a good excuse for why their product has failed- you! Your skin is the wrong "type" for the particular product, or you failed to follow the excrutiatingly detailed instructions to the letter, or...on and on ad infinitum.
And no cosmetic manufacturer will own up to the fact that even if his product formulations are theoretically sound and carefully crafted, they are still subject to the mechanics of marketing and its vagaries. It takes time to get a product to market. It takes time to sell it. Meanwhile the skin whitening ingredients deteriorate. More often than not, the product that leaves the cosmetic counter in the hands of its hopeful buyer is not the product it was a year ago when it was manufactured. This of course leads to a lot of disappointed and discouraged buyers.
As a result, many people with skin whitening issues simply throw up their hands and succumb to the lure of cosmetic coverups. These in themselves are far from cheap and do nothing to alter the underlying skin problems.
The solution to this dilemma lies no further than the kitchen or local supermarket. The same inexpensive natural ingredients used so liberally by the cosmetics industry are resting there inviting everyone with the know how to construct for pennies, the virtually life altering elixir they need to address their skin pigmentation and skin whitening issues.
Natural ingredients which remove dark spots and whiten skin are plentiful and readily available. Troubling brown spots on the skin can be quickly and easily removed with natural skin whitening ingredients. Skin pigmentation issues can be eliminated with natural ingredients. Remember, these are the same skin whitening ingredients used by the cosmetics industry. Fruits, vegetables, and certain animal products are super rich in antioxidants and other substances which whiten the skin when properly formulated and applied.
An added bonus to the use of these natural ingredients is that there are absolutely zero side effects. Anyone who knowingly suffers from a food allergy needs only to avoid those foods. There are plenty of substitutions that work; one as well as another. Skin whitening formula made in this way is always fresh with its curative properties available full force. Allergic reactions are eliminated, expense is kept to a bare minimum, and the skin nurturing properties of the fresh and natural ingredients are nothing short of miraculous.
So while the laser treatment option for skin whitening is available for those who can afford it, this is still not the panacea it is made out to be by its practitioners. Beside the cost, there are many possible side effects, inconveniences, and discomforts that are carefully downplayed. Meanwhile, equally effective, though somewhat slower treatment for many skin conditions can be otained by anyone with the initiative to take control by mastering the art of employing natural ingredients for treating skin discoloration and skin whitening issues.

Mercury in Home Made Face Creams
Some skin lightening ingredients work extremely well in the short-term but are dangerous to our well-being and the long-term health of our skin. Mercury is one of them.
History of mercury use in skin lightening creams
The use of mercury in commercial skin bleaching creams and soaps goes back to the early 1900s. Before 1970, commercial bleaching creams would normally use ammoniated mercury to produce a lightening effect on the skin. These bleaching creams were aggressively marketed to black people in the US.
In 1976, the use of mercury in cosmetic products was banned in the EU. The US banned the use of mercury in skin bleaching creams much later in 1990.
Mercury absorption into the body via the skin
Mercury and mercurial compounds can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of the vapors, ingestion, or skin contact. As a poison, the damaging effects of mercury are subtle and cumulative, building up over time.
When absorbed, mercury has been discovered in blood, urine, bile, sweat, saliva, milk, and in pus on the surface of ulcers. It has also been discovered in the solids after death, in the brain, the bones, the cellular tissue, in serous membranes, in the parts close to the joints, and in the lungs and liver.
Mercury’s effects on the skin and overall health (symptoms of mercury poisoning / excessive mercury)
Mercury can be extremely effective in lightening dark spots and stubborn pigmentation but has a high spontaneous remission rate (in a number of people, the original pigmentation returns once the treatment is stopped).
The symptoms of mercury poisoning include emotional disturbances, unsteadiness, inflammation of the mouth and gums, general fatigue, memory loss, forgetfulness and headaches. It may also lead to kidney damage. Excess mercury in the system has been known to cause kidney problems (membranous nephropathy)
Skin contact with mercury compounds can lead to irritation, including patches of inflammation and the appearance of tiny bumps close together. These bumps may burst and discharge matter, which later crusts over leading to soreness and discomfort.

Skin Lightening Cream Buying Tips
Lovely women with lovely blemishless skin - they look so wonderful on the pages of glossies, while you are perennially saddled with your tanned and freckled skin. Hence the desperate search for skin lightening creams and lotions. But you know the usual pattern, don’t you? The more attractive the woman in the commercial for the product, the more convinced you are of its effectiveness. And you are aware that the model may not have used the skin lightening product at all.
You can, however, stop being swayed by promotions and advertisement campaigns if you care to switch to more objective assessments of skin lightening products - the ones that come from the customers and users themselves. These are available online and on print, and yes, it is true that some of these are the brainchildren of companies manufacturing skin lightening creams. But it is not difficult to spot the ‘genuine’ reviews from the ‘planted’ ones, and the former will give you the pros and cons of most of the skin ligteners available in the market.
Why should you think before buying a skin whitener for yourself? Of course, because it’s your skin and you should be taking good care of what you are applying on it. A number of ingredients used commonly in skin lightening creams and lotions are now known to have harmful effects on one’s skin. Hydroquinone is the most common of these. It is used as a melanin inhibitor in most skin whitening creams, but its side effects can range from a darkening of the skin to pink patches as a result of hyperpigmentation or a complete prevention of melanin production. Over sustained use, hydroquinone can even lead to skin cancers.
Skin lightening creams often cause a condition called ocronosis. In this the melanin pigment, which is supposed to be nearer the surface of the skin, goes down deeper and becomes nearly impossible to take out. Skin whiteners are also known to result in acne and other kinds of pimples and rashes. Many of these become permanent conditions unless treated immediately. Surprisingly enough, even those skin lightening products that claim to use natural ingredients are not free from such side effects.
Scientific researches have revealed that chemical substances used in the composition of skin lightening creams, such as lactic acid, glycolic acid, arbutin, azelaic acid, kojic acid, mercury and treitinoin do not cause much harm if used in low concentrations. But to make their products more effective and produce faster results, cream manufacturers often use these chemicals in concentrations above the permissible limits. This is the main reason why women often break out in rashes and pimples after beginning to use skin lightening products. There is also the question of mismatch between the product and the skin type on which it is used. Many of the creams claim to be effective on “normal” skin. Can any of us ever be sure we have “normal” skin?
This is why you should read as many reports about a skin whitening product as you can before you actually decide to buy it. Read up about the ingredients that go into its making and try to get hold of at least one report by a medical or professional organization which gives you a technical description of the cream. The consumers who post reports about such products usually begin by describing their skin and why they went for that particular product. This could be an easy way to check whether your skin type matches that of the reviewer’s. If it does, you can expect a similar set of problems with the cream, or the same kind of rewards.
But don’t ever make the mistake of taking your skin for granted by treating it with any which skin lightener. You may live to regret it.

Men's skin care
‘Man skin care’ would seem like an alien topic to some men. It would have been even more alien a few years back. However, more and more men are now realising the importance of man skin care (and hence you see markets flush with man skin care products too). Even though the male skin is very different from that of a female, ‘man skin care’ is very similar to the skin care for women.
‘Man skin care’ too starts with cleansing. Water soluble cleansers are preferred. Cleansing helps remove the dirt, grease and pollutants from the skin and helps in preventing pore clogging. The inherent oily nature of male skin makes cleansing an important part of man skin care procedure. Cleansing should be done at least once every day, even better if it is done twice a day. Using soap on the face is discouraged.
‘Man skin care’ revolves a lot around shaving. Shaving foam/gel/cream and after shave lotion are one of the most important man skin care products. Serious ‘man skin care’ requires a proper selection of shaving related equipment and products. One of the main considerations in choosing shaving products should be the skin type (since the degree of oiliness differs from person to person). Alcohol-based aftershaves should be avoided. Proper ‘man skin care’ also mandates the use of good quality razors. Here, swivel-head razors are preferred since they are known to reduce cuts. Besides these products and equipment, it is also necessary that you use them properly. Be gentle when using your razor. Do not scratch it against your skin; use a soft and smooth action (after all it’s a matter of removing hair, not the skin itself).
Male skin is generally thicker and oilier, owing to larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. However, due to regular shaving, the skin can get dehydrated quite easily. Hence moisturisers too form an integral part of man skin care. Moisturising gel or cream should be applied after shaving. In fact, some shaving foams/ gel have an in-built moisturising effect too. Moisturisers should be patted gently over the face and massaged gently using upward strokes.
Though a man’s skin is less susceptible to skin cancer caused by UV radiation, using a sunscreen is also an important man skin care measure. You can use a moisturiser that combines sunscreen with the moisturising effect.
Another good option for ‘man skin care’ is to use man skin care products which have natural ingredients like aloe vera, sea salt and coconut etc. Naturally antiseptic oils e.g. lavender, tea tree etc also provide good means for man skin care.
Man skin care is not as difficult as a lot of men think. It just asks for a few minutes every day, in order to give you a healthy skin for present and for future.

Lotions vs. skin care creams
There is no dearth of skin care creams and lotions in the market. Name an ailment, and you will find hundreds of skin care creams, lotions and other products for it. As a result of ongoing research and due to ever increasing demand, the number of skin care products seems to be on the increase. Skin care lotions and skin care creams are the most popular forms in which these products are available, and there always seems to be a debate on which form is better?
Well, there is no definitive answer to this. It seems more like a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are surely less popular as compared to the non-greasy (or less greasy) ones. Since the application of skin care creams is easier, they seem to be preferred (over lotions) in cases where the skin care product is not to be removed immediately after application. So, skin care creams seem more popular as moisturisers than as cleansers or toners. For toners, lotions seem to be preferred over skin care creams. There are some skin care creams that acts as toners too, but generally the toners are available in liquid form only. For cleansing, lotions and skin care creams are equally popular; however, the tilt seems more towards lotions.
Creams are known to be most effective in keeping skin moist; hence, the most popular form of skin care creams is moisturisers. Due to the same reason, a lot of people tend to associate skin care creams with dry and sensitive skin. Though it is true to a certain extent, skin care creams are not used only for dry skin, they are also used for making products for oily skin e.g. vitamin A creams and sulphur creams that help reduce the rate of sebum production.
Skin care creams are also used for products that cater to skin disorders especially for disorders that require the application of product over a small localised area. This is again due to the fact that skin care creams are easier to apply (without wastage) on the affected area. However, in cases where skin needs to be washed using a medicine/product, lotion is a better choice. Mostly, the manufacturers too realize this fact, making it easier for you to choose between a lotion and a skin care cream

Natural skin care products
When it comes to skin care products, you will find that a lot of people are very particular about using only natural skin care products. They treat all the synthetic products as harmful to the skin.
So, are natural skin care products the answer to all of our problems? What if a natural skin care product is not available for the treatment of a particular skin disorder? Are the synthetic skin care products so harmful that they should be banned?
Different people have different answers to these questions. However, the reality is that due to presence of synthetic preservatives, it’s really tough to find a natural skin care product that is 100% natural. There are natural skin care products that have natural preservatives, but their cost might be detrimental. Moreover, such natural skin products have a shorter shelf life and hence are not preferred by the manufacturers of natural skin care products.
Some people carry a wrong notion that since natural skin care products are natural, they cannot cause any harm to the skin. The suitability of a skin care product is not based on whether it is synthetic or natural. An unsuitable natural skin care product can harm you in almost the same way as a synthetic one. So, use natural skin care products, but be open to synthetic ones too (you might need them when a natural solution is not available)
Your selection of a natural skin care product should be based on 3 factors:
* The skin type (dry, oily, normal, sensitive) of the person who will use that natural skin care product
* The climatic conditions in which it will be used e.g. hot and humid condition would warranty the use of oil-free natural skin care products.
* The process for application/use of the natural skin care product. A good natural skin care product (in fact any product) can seem useless if not used in the proper way.
You can also make natural skin care products by yourself, by using the recipes that are readily available on the internet and in the books at book stores.
Use of organic fruits and vegetables is also popular as a natural skin care procedure. Some essential oils, herbal oils, are useful too and are known for their moisturising and antiseptic properties
However, using a natural skin care product does not mean that you can exercise carelessness with other aspects of skin care. Natural skin care products should be used like supplements to the following ‘essential’ recommendations: healthy eating habits (avoiding oily food), regular exercise, drinking a lot of water (8 glasses everyday), and cleanliness. This will then form a perfect and completely natural skin care routine that will help maintain a healthy beautiful skin for longer time.

Herbal skin care
Skin care is not a topic of recent times; it has been in practice since ancient times, when herbal skin care was probably the only way to take care of skin. However, skin care has transformed in a big way. Herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic/chemical-based skin care routines. The herbal skin care recipes which once used to be common place are not so popular today (and even unknown to a large population). This transformation from herbal skin care to synthetic, can probably be attributed to two things – our laziness (or just the fast pace of lives) and the commercialisation of skin care.
Even herbal skin care products have been commercialised. These commercial herbal skin care products have to be mixed with preservatives in order to increase their shelf-life, hence making them less effective than the fresh ones made at home. However, it seems that things are changing fast and more people are now opting for natural and herbal skin care routines. But still, none want to make them at home and hence the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise.
So what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?
Aloe vera, which is an extract from Aloe plant, is one of the best examples of herbal skin care product. Freshly extracted aloe vera is a natural hydrant that helps in soothing skin. It also helps in healing cuts and treating sun burns.
A number of herbs are known to possess cleansing properties. Dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary herbs, are a few examples of such cleansers. Their herbal skin care properties get invoked when they are combined with other herbs like tea.
Antiseptics are another important part of Herbal skin care. Lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel are good examples of herbs that are known to possess antiseptic properties. Lavender water and rose water also form good toners.
Tea plays an important part in herbal skin care. Tea extracts are used for treatment of skin that has been damaged by UV radiation.
Oils prepared from herbal extracts present another means of herbal skin care. Tea tree oil, Lavender oil, borage oil and primrose oil are some popular oils used in herbal skin care. Some fruit oils (e.g. extracts from fruits like banana, apple and melon) find use in shower gels (as a hydrating mix)
Homeopathic treatments and aromatherapies also come under the umbrella of herbal skin care remedies.
Herbal skin care is good not only for the routine nourishing of skin but also for treatment of skin disorders like eczema and psorasis. Most herbal skin care products don’t have any side effects (the most important reason for preferring them over synthetic products) Moreover, herbal skin care products can be easily made at home, hence making them even more attractive. So, herbal skin care is the way to go. However, this does not mean that you totally discard the synthetic products. Some people go to the extent of debating with their dermatologist, if he/she suggests a synthetic product. You should accept the fact that some skin orders might need usage of clinically proven non-herbal skin care products.

Lipstick & Lip Liners Tips
Lipstick Formulas
Lipstick comes in a variety of textures including matte, creme and frost. How should you decide on which formula to use? Read on.
Matte
Matte formula lipstick provides rich color without shine. Matte lipstick lasts longer than other types because it contains less moisture. The downside to matte lipstick is that it can leave your lips dry. Look for a matte lipstick that is also labeled as moisturizing for long-lasting color that isn't dried out.

Creme
Creme lipstick formulas normally last for several hours. These dewy, soft creamy colors will stay in place longer if you use a primer or concealer all over your lips before applying your lipstick. Creamy lipstick is perfect for women of any age, but particularly for more mature women.

Frost/ShimmerLipsticks labeled as frost or shimmer have flecks of shiny pigment that reflect light, giving your lips a frosty look. These shimmery lipsticks are great for evening.
To help the color last longer (when applying any type of lipstick), line your lips with a lip pencil and then fill in your lips completely with the liner before applying your lipstick. You can apply straight from the tube or with a lip brush for a more precise look. If you're looking for a lip palette that offers more than one choice, try the 'cinnaMEN MENAGE A DEUX!' Lip Palette from Joey New York, which includes nine choices for your lips.
Make Lipstick Stick
When it comes to applying makeup, lipstick is among the trickiest of the tricky. Whether you end up with a cakey mess or no lipstick at all, it's hard to get the application process down. Here's a great trick to help you get those lips looking irresistible: Before beginning, be sure that your lips are moisturized. If those things are cracked or chapped, your lipstick will flake off or settle unevenly—not pretty. Try using a lip exfoliator if possible. This will help alleviate chapped and cracked lips. Apply a tiny bit of concealer or foundation around the outer edge of the lip line (this will help prevent feathering). Use a lip pencil or liner, and trace the natural line of your lips. Use a sharp lip liner pencil that has a soft tip, this is the best lip liner. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick—this will help to distribute the color evenly as opposed to applying it directly from the tube. A brush will also allow the application to be more precise and blend well with the lipliner. Blot the lips with a Kleenex and apply a light, translucent powder to set the color. Apply a final layer and blott once more. Add gloss if you want that pouty finish!
Preparing Your Lips
Just as a painter calls for a clean canvas, your lipstick needs the perfect backdrop: Smooth, soft lips.
- In order to keep your lips and the rest of your skin hydrated, drink a lot of water. Eight to ten glasses per day is ideal.
- Moisturize your lips with lip balm on a daily basis. Your lip balm should have an SPF of 15 or higher if you spend significant time in the sun.
- Exfoliate your lips if they are flaky. Scrub your lips gently with a washcloth when you are in the shower to remove any excess dry skin. When your lips are flaky, your lipstick won't go on smooth.
- Cover your entire lips with a very thin coat of the lip primer to create a smooth setting for your lip color.
- Line your lips with a neutral lip pencil that is close to your natural lip color.
- Buy moisturizing lipsticks. These formulas will keep your lips smooth and comfortable throughout the day.
Make Your Teeth Look Whiter With Lipstick
Everyone wants whiter teeth. You can't turn on the TV without seeing an ad for whitening toothpaste, strips, gels, bleaching trays, etc. But here's a little beauty secret: you don't need a dentist for whiter teeth; you need a tube of lipstick.
Choose a lipstick shade that has a cool or blue undertone. Go for a medium to deep shade that isn't too yellow or orange in tone. A glossy plum or berry lipstick will maximize the white finish on your teeth making your smile much prettier. If you are having trouble figuring out what exactly a cool shade looks like, head to one of the makeup counters and let a professional do the work for you.
Hint: If you want to do it yourself, head to the Prescriptives makeup counter. All their lip colors are divided into specific warm (Yellow/Orange and Red/Orange) and cool (Blue/Red and Red) color families, so choosing the right shade is a piece of cake!
Dry Lips
Before applying lipstick, try using a lip exfoliator that has moisturizers in it. Avoid matte lipsticks and instead choose a sheer, tinted lipstick or shimmery gloss. This fresh look will stay on longer and keep lips hydrated.
Fuller Lips
To make your lips appear fuller, use a deep shade of lipcolor at the outside corners of lips. Then apply a lighter lipcolor (in similar shade) to the center of the lips. Remember that light brings forward, dark recedes.
Lipstick Choices
The type of lipstick you use depends on your individual taste. There are matte lipsticks that are drier and thus longer lasting. There are cream lipsticks that give good coverage and contain moisturizers. There are hydrating lipsticks that are good for dry lips. There are sheer lipsticks that are moist and give your lips a stain. There are also lipglosses that are fluid and have the most moisture.

Whether your were born with long lashes or have short, thin lashes, everyone can benefit from mascara. It's important to choose the right product in order to maximize the effect on your lashes. Read on to learn about three different types of mascara that will work wonders for your eyes.
High-volume mascara. If you have thin lashes, volumizing mascara will define each lash, rather than causing a clumping effect. Check out Estee Lauder Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara, which is consistently rated highly on beauty product reviews.
Lash-lengthening mascara. If you weren't born with super long lashes, don't worry. Products like Lancôme Definicils Mascara have earned awards for adding incredible length to lashes.
Smudge-proof mascara. It's hard to find a truly smudge-proof mascara, but products like MAC Zoom Lash Mascara provide smudge-proof formulas that make lashes super thick and long.
Choosing the right makeup for the time of day
The best wedding makeup tips for a wedding is to use the right colors for the lighting and time of day. For a day time wedding, stick to lighter, more basic make up. Avoid black or dark brown eyeliner and opt for more subtle greys and light browns. Use a brow pencil in a shade as close to your hair as possible to shade your eyebrows. Use lighter toned eyeshadow to prevent them overshadowing your eyes.
Give your self a glow with a pink or rose hued blush to accentuate your cheek bones and pair it with a lipstick in a similar shade. Avoid pale lipstick since it will appear washed out in photographs.
For a nighttime wedding, choose darker, bolder colors. Use bolder eyeshadow and use black or dark brown eyeliner to accentuate your eyes. Use a darker blush as well, while still sticking to rose based colors. Be bold with your lip color, as long as it still blends well with your other make up and your skin tone. Adding a bit of shimmer with sparkly lip gloss will brighten your smile and look great in wedding photos.

Make Up Tips for Brown Eyes
An important thing to remember when considering make up tips for brown eyes is that lighter colored eye shadows will bring out brown eyes more, while darker colored eye shadows will make the eyes look smaller. Darker colors, however, can also add a dramatic, smoky tone to the eyes. Dark eyeliners, for example, combined with a lighter eye shadow, such as pale pink or bronze will emphasize brown eyes, especially when paired with generous amounts of dark mascara. To further make brown eyes stand out, applying touches of gold eye shadow will really play them up. Glittery eyeshadow will bring out the richness of brown eyes, when applied generously to the eyelid, and extending slightly at the sides. The further the eyeshadow extends outward, the lighter it should be. In addition, mascara should be applied in multiple coats, and allowed to dry in between coats. This is so that eyelashes do not become clumped together. The more coats that are correctly applied, the thicker and richer the eyelashes will look, drawing more attention to the eyes. In addition, since brown eyes benefit from all the attention they can get, it important to curl the eyelashes before and after applying mascara to open and bring focus to the eyes. Also, subtly smudging the eyeshadow will give the eyes an extra note of mystery, while not making them look too overdone.
